Help & Troubleshooting

Common aircon problems, explained.

Not sure what's wrong with your unit? Find your symptom below for a likely cause and which service usually fixes it — or just WhatsApp us a photo or video.

Aircon Not Cold

The unit runs and blows air, but the room never gets cold, or takes much longer than usual to cool down.

Likely cause: Low refrigerant (gas leak), a dirty coil restricting airflow, or an oversized room for the unit's capacity.

Recommended: Chemical Overhaul or Gas Top-up →

Water Leaking / Dripping

Water dripping from the indoor unit, or a damp patch forming on the ceiling or wall below it.

Likely cause: Blocked or clogged drainage pipe, or the drain tray/pump not clearing condensation properly.

Recommended: General Servicing →

Musty or Foul Smell

A musty, sour or mouldy smell when the unit is switched on, especially right after turning it on.

Likely cause: Mould or bacteria buildup on the coil and blower wheel from moisture that hasn't been cleaned out.

Recommended: Chemical Overhaul →

Noisy or Rattling Unit

A rattling, buzzing or grinding noise coming from the indoor or outdoor unit during operation.

Likely cause: Loose panel or fan blade, worn fan bearings, or debris caught in the outdoor fan.

Recommended: Jetwash Servicing →

Trips the Circuit Breaker

The circuit breaker trips shortly after switching the aircon on, cutting power to the unit.

Likely cause: Compressor strain from a dirty system, a faulty capacitor, or an electrical fault needing diagnosis.

Recommended: Repair & Diagnosis →

Ice or Frost on the Unit

Visible ice or frost forming on the indoor coil, pipes, or even the outdoor unit.

Likely cause: Low refrigerant, restricted airflow from a dirty filter/coil, or the unit running continuously in very low temperatures.

Recommended: Chemical Overhaul →

FAQ

Good to know before you book.

How often should I service my aircon?

For homes, every 3–4 months for general servicing. For offices or units running long hours daily, every 2–3 months keeps cooling efficient and prevents mould buildup.

What's the difference between general servicing, Jetwash and chemical overhaul?

General servicing cleans filters and does a surface clean. Jetwash uses high-pressure water for a deeper clean of the coil and blower. Chemical overhaul is the most thorough — a full strip-down chemical soak for mould, smell or units overdue for a deep clean. See our Services page for full details and pricing.

Do you top up gas during a normal service?

Not by default for general servicing. Jetwash includes a complimentary top-up where genuinely needed; for other services we test pressure and quote separately if required.

What does FCU mean?

FCU stands for Fan Coil Unit — the indoor unit of your aircon system. Our pricing is quoted per FCU since that's how most Singapore homes and offices are billed.

Which areas do you cover?

Islandwide Singapore — HDB, condo, landed property and commercial offices, including Central, East, West and North regions.
